As part of the “Infrastructure Excursion” course, students enrolled in the Master’s program in Civil Engineering – Infrastructure took a three-day excursion from June 11 to 13, 2025, to selected infrastructure projects and companies in Austria and Germany.Together with professors and assistants from the EBW, RID, ISV, and SWW, the group visited the S10 road construction site near Freistadt, the Hawle valve factory in Vöcklabruck, and, in Munich, the construction sites
for the second trunk line of the S-Bahn and the Tram-Westtangente, the Siemens locomotive factory, the wastewater treatment plant, and Munich Airport. The excursion not only offered exciting insights into the planning, construction, and
operation of complex infrastructure facilities, but also enabled an intensive exchange—both within the group with the professors and assistants and with representatives from the companies, operators, and authorities. (A short report by participant Daniel Schieder, 2025)
