Gerald joined the institute in November 2025 after completing his master’s degree in Civil Engineering at TU Graz. His master’s thesis focused on quantifying and assessing short-waved rail irregularities in small-radius curves, among others using the rail surface measurement system. His research continues in the field of short-waved effects and will increasingly address turnout-related topics within the Turnout Lab.
